Our Services

Programs designed to help you reach your training goals, big or small.

Every dog is different, and at Destination Canines, we work closely with you to help you achieve your goals. Whether you have a brand-new puppy, a rescue with some history, or a dog who simply needs better manners in public, there is a program here that fits.

Board and Train

Broaden your dog’s horizons with a full communication system.

Your dog stays in the home with our trainer and works on obedience, manners, and calm behavior around the clock. We offer 4-week and 6-week Comprehensive Stay Programs for dogs six months and older, a 2-week Puppy Jumpstart for puppies 4 to 5 months old, and a Tune-Up Stay for returning clients whose skills have drifted. This is a great choice for busy families and professionals who want to see steady progress without running every session themselves.

Private Pet Lessons

Build foundational leash skills for your dog.

Learn alongside your dog in one-on-one sessions, with lesson packages ranging from 4 to 10 lessons. We teach your dog the first stage of a new skill, then show you in depth how to build and maintain it at home — marker words, Sit, Down and Here thresholds, loose-leash walking, and long-line recall. Between lessons you practice with your trainer’s support, and at each session we check your progress and add new challenges. These sessions are flexible, designed to fit your schedule, and ideal for dogs of all ages, from puppies to seniors.

Scentwork

Enrichment or competitive scenting.

Scentwork takes your dog’s strongest instinct and turns it into a structured, rewarding activity. We teach scent-detection skills in a positive, engaging way, helping your dog build focus and confidence at their own pace. It works just as well for nervous dogs, senior dogs, puppies from around 10 weeks, and small breeds as it does for high-energy working dogs, and it has proven success in reducing anxiety and improving overall behavior.

Canine Ecological Detection

Conservation canines handled by biologists.

We offer ecological canine detection services throughout the Western United States, led by experienced ecologists. Our trained scent dogs help researchers, environmental consultants, and government agencies with a variety of conservation projects, from finding invasive species and endangered animals to tracking biological samples and gathering accurate data. Every project begins with a conversation about your target odor, your timeline, and the conditions in the field.

Choosing the Right Program

Most owners start with either a board-and-train stay or a package of private lessons, and the deciding factor is usually time. If your week has room for daily practice at home, private lessons build the strongest long-term habits. If it does not, a stay puts the structure in place first and hands you the skills afterward. Scentwork can run alongside either one.
